Hey. We recently purchased a split inverter AC for our bedroom. This is the first time we got an inverter AC and were intrigued by what is the purpose of inverter in air conditioner. I asked the technician about this and he gave me a descriptive explanation. Inverter in an AC is responsible for performing energy saving by eliminating wasted operation in the unit.
What is the Purpose of Inverter AC?
To clearly state the role of the inverter in an AC, it controls the motor speed of the AC and helps prevent energy wastage. ACs maintain a set temperature by cooling when the room temperature rises above the set temperature. It then heats when the room temperature falls below the set temperature.
What happens is that the motor speed in non-inverter ACs remains constant and temperature is adjusted by switching the motor on and off, which consumes a lot of energy.
Now, inverter ACs adjust the temperature by changing motor speed without turning the motor on and off. This helps limit the energy consumption and reduces the electricity bill to a great extent.
You can also understand the impact of inverter ACs with an example. Non-inverter ACs start, stop, do hard running, rest and then start and stop once again. Compared to this, inverter ACs maintain a consistent and appropriate pace, which helps them run while being energy efficient.
