I planned to renovate my entire bathroom because my grandma was not comfortable using an Indian toilet. So, I hired a renovation team. Before starting the process, I asked one of the team members how they would do the Indian toilet to Western toilet conversion. He explained that all he started with was turning off the main water supply, removing the Indian toilet, followed by several other steps, which I added below.
How to Convert Indian to Western Toilet?
Here is the process the renovation team followed to convert the Indian toilet to a Western one in my bathroom.
Turned off the main water supply so there was no leakage during the work.
Then they removed the Indian toilet and cleared out any old fittings.
Next, they broke the floor around the toilet to get to the drainpipe.
They cleaned the area and levelled the floor to get it ready for the new commode.
Then they checked where the drain was. Western toilets usually need a slightly different spot, so if it fits, fine.
After that, they fixed the flange on top of the drain, which holds the new commode in place.
Placed the Western toilet on the flange and marked the bolt spots.
Then, they drilled the holes and tightened the toilet with bolts so it stays firm.
Connected the water pipe to the flush tank.
Applied sealant around the base to stop water from leaking out.
They filled the sides with cement to keep it steady.
Now they turned the water back on, tested the flush, and made sure everything was working fine.
Finally, they cleaned up the area, removed the waste, and checked that the toilet was stable.
I hope you now have a clear idea about the Indian to Western toilet conversion.
