Hey. I saw you asking what is the most common cause of electrical fires and I can tell you. So, one of the most common causes is a short circuit. There can be many reasons behind a short circuit occurring. I recently got my house renovated and we got the electrical work done as well. At the time, I talked to the electrician about short circuits and all. Let me tell you what all leads to short circuits.

Most Common Causes of Short Circuit

  1. Overloaded Circuits: If you plug in too many appliances into one socket, or use a wire that’s too thin for the electrical load, it can lead to excessive heating. The heat can melt the insulation and expose the wires, causing short circuits.

  2. Wire Insulation Damage: The insulation on any wire ensures that live and neutral wires don’t touch. If the insulation wears out, a short circuit can happen, leading to increased chances of fire.

  3. Bad Wiring: Another reason is faulty wiring. If there are loose connections or you use wires of inappropriate size, it can cause excessive sparks, heating and lead to fires.

  4. Improper Installation: When wires are pulled through conduits and sharp bends with poor installation techniques, the insulation can tear. This can cause a short circuit and cause a fire.

I hope this will be helpful for you.
