Hi buddy. I had the experience of going through a Griha Pravesh ceremony for my new house. However, after that my priest performed Vastu Shanti puja to restore harmony and keep us away from any obstacles. Griha Pravesh
Griha Pravesh is basically a housewarming ceremony, where the whole focus is on purifying the space before you start living there. You perform this ritual to ensure the place is blessed and that it welcomes peace and happiness. We picked an auspicious date based on our astrological chart, and that day was all about celebrating with family and friends, and of course, food.
Vastu Shanti
Now, the Vastu shanti is actually a part of the whole Griha Pravesh ceremony, but it focuses on the energy and balance of the house itself. This was the more serious part, where we did a homa (fire ritual) to ward off negative forces and create a peaceful environment. It’s based on ancient Vedic principles, similar to Feng Shui, where you align your home with nature's elements like fire, water, air, etc.
So, in short, Griha Pravesh is a grand welcome into your new home. Vastu Shanti is the ritual that ensures the space is in harmony with the universe, removing any negative vibes.
It was a long day, but totally worth it to feel that everything was aligned for a peaceful start in our new place. Hope my answer explains the basic difference.
