Before painting the exterior of my house, I was a bit confused about plastic emulsion vs acrylic emulsion: which one to choose? After researching, I discovered that although both of them use water based polymers as their substrate, the difference is in terms of composition, and use. For instance, plastic emulsion is more suitable indoors whereas acrylic emulsions are suitable for outdoor use. Finally, I opted for acrylic emulsion for painting the exterior of my home.
Acrylic Emulsion Vs Plastic Emulsion
Acrylic Emulsion | Plastic Emulsion |
Superior resistance to water, alkali, stains, and UV radiation, makes it more resilient and appropriate for outdoor use | Has a smooth, matte, or silky texture, perfect for interior use, like walls and ceilings |
Long-lasting protection and a high-gloss finish are provided | More affordable and washable, which makes it ideal for decorative purposes |
I would advise you to use acrylic emulsion for long-lasting, high-performance exterior finishes and plastic emulsion for reasonably priced indoor aesthetics. I hope this helps!
