You will find certain ideas found in Hindu law, such as the HUF (Hindu Undivided Family), Karta, Succession Rules, Streedhan, etc. They were developed for the efficient running of the household and to safeguard the interests of various family members. Streedhan involves the right of (Hindu) women to the wealth that is exclusively theirs by law. You will get to know in detail what does Stridhanana property means with this answer.

Know about all the property types and their rights from the experts at NoBroker.

What is a Stridhana property?

Stri (woman) and Dhana (word) are the roots of the term "Stridhana" (property). Stridhana denotes a woman's property in this way according to its origin. Though the idea of stridhana has been passed down through the ages from the Hindu Smritis, it now includes all recognized classes and areas and all marriage types. Any precious possession that belongs entirely to the woman, such as land, jewellery, etc., is known as a stridhana. The possession known as Stridhana belongs to a woman, who has complete control over its management. The property known as Stridhana is distinct from other types of woman's estate property. A woman's property might be split into two types before the Hindu Succession Act of 1956 was put into effect: stridhana and the woman's estate. Now you know what is Stridhana meaning.

How to keep Stridhana under control?

  • When giving gifts at the time of marriage, women should have witnesses.

  • Women must have a separate account for their salary.

  • In order for women to be informed of what is going on in the household, they should participate in financial choices.

  • A woman should keep track of all the presents she receives from her parents, in-laws, family, and friends before, after, and at the time of marriage.

  • Women must maintain a record of all supporting documentation for gifts and ensure that all bills and gifts are in her name and preserved safely.

  • Wedding photos may also be preserved as proof.

This is all from my end about Stridhana property.
