A few weeks ago, I moved into my flat for the very first time when I moved to Bangalore for my job. My flat was in a housing society, so as the first month went by, I soon received a society maintenance bill, and I started wondering what it was. I was also unsure what is included in society maintenance charges. So I looked it up and found out that it is basically a monthly charge to cover the maintenance of common areas and amenities of the society.

I was quickly aware of the need for society maintenance fees after I looked it up. I also found out that the collection of these fees from residents is for maintaining and taking care of shared spaces and facilities, like gardens, swimming pools, cleaning, pest control, security, car parking, water and electricity charges for common areas, etc.
