My sister is a lawyer. I was recently going through her books, and I came across the term "quasi contract." I curiously asked her what is Quasi contract meaning in law.

What is quasi contract?

My sister told me that a quasi-contract is an association between two occurrences that were made retroactively and without any prior contractual obligations. Without prior consent from the parties, a court order is used to create the contract.

She also enlisted the,

Salient Facets of Quasi-Contractual Rights:
  • A quasi-contract has the same length as a real contract.

  • The offer and acceptance principle is no longer the foundation of it.

  • It is imposed by legislation rather than emerging from any explicit arrangement.

  • It is a right that can now only be exercised in opposition to one single person rather than worldwide.

  • It is predicated on concepts of justice, adequate conscience, and equity.

While talking about the quasi contract meaning, my sister informed me that, in accordance with the Indian Contract Act of 1872, quasi-contracts are no longer contracts. However, some obligations are only imposed with the help of the law and under opportune circumstances.
