The National Food and Security Act (NFSA) was passed to provide an amount of food at a lower rate. Under the NFSA, the state government has provided two types of ration cards. The two types of ration cards under NFSA are Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Household (PHH).
Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)This type of ration card is issued to impoverished families identified by the state governments.
Citizens such as unemployed people, women and old people belong to this category.
Eligible families receive up to 35 kg of food grain every month.
Food grains are available at a subsidised rate of Rs.3 per kg for rice, Rs.2 per kg for wheat and Rs.1 per kg for coarse grains.
Families who do not belong to AAY belong to PHH.
PHH cardholders are eligible for 5kg of food grains per person per month.
You can get food grains at a subsidised rate Rs.3 per kg for rice, Rs.2 per kg for wheat and Rs.1 per kg for coarse grains for these cardholders.
