I am going to complete my interior design course in a few months, and I have learned what is elevation in interior design. It is basically an orthographic projection, which means a two-dimensional drawing that shows a three-dimensional space. In simple words, an interior elevation is a 2D drawing of a wall or a series of walls that helps designers and clients visualise how the room will look.
What is an Interior Elevation?
An interior elevation drawing helps plan the placement of furniture, lights, wall units, ceiling height, and other decor elements in the final design. These drawings are made to scale and show the room from a straight, vertical view, from the floor to the ceiling.
It also lets you view the space from eye level, making it easier to see details that may not appear in a floor plan. That’s why elevations are very useful, especially for kitchens and other home renovation projects.
I hope this will help you understand what interior elevation means.
