My father asked me about the DD charges in Canara Bank last year as he had transferred some amount to his brother. He always believed demand draft is the only safe method of transferring funds across accounts. As I had no idea about that, I researched about it and found that it starts at Rs 25.

What are Demand Draft Charges in Canara Bank?
I also found that the charges vary based on the amount of the DD and whether the DD is being issued in favor of a Canara Bank branch or a non-Canara Bank branch.
Standard DD Charges:
For DDs up to ₹1,000: The charge is around ₹25-30 per DD.
For DDs above ₹1,000 and up to ₹10,000: The fee is generally ₹35-40 per DD.
For DDs above ₹10,000 and up to ₹1 lakh: The charge is approximately ₹3.50 - 4 per ₹1,000.
For DDs above ₹1 lakh: The charge usually remains ₹3.50- 4 per ₹1,000 or part thereof, but this may vary based on the branch and the amount involved.
Additional Charges:
Outstation DDs: If the DD is drawn on a non-home branch or a branch outside the issuing branch's city, additional charges may apply.
Cancellation or Revalidation of DD: A nominal fee of around ₹100 may be charged for canceling or revalidating a demand draft.
In some cases, senior citizens, students, or government employees may receive concessions on DD charges. It’s advisable to check with the branch for any applicable discounts. I hope you found this answer helpful.
