I live in Bangalore, and I am one of the board members of my housing society. In our society, cultural or festival funds in housing society are collected to organise social, cultural, and festive activities like celebrating Durga Puja, Independence Day, Republic Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, and so on. These funds are used to cover expenses for decorations, events, and other cultural programs within the society.

What are Cultural or Festival Funds in the Housing Society?

  1. Cultural or Festival Funds are contributions collected from residents to celebrate festivals and organise social functions. However, it is very important to note that these contributions are voluntary in nature.

  2. A housing society cannot make it compulsory for all members to pay, even if such a resolution is passed in the AGM (Annual General Meeting) or SGM (Special General Meeting). Residents who are not interested in participating cannot be forced to contribute.

That’s all about the festival funds in the housing society.
