What is creep of concrete?
The deformation of a structure due to heavy load is known as concrete creep. Due to prolonged pressure or stress, the shape of the concrete can change. The deformation occurs when pressure is applied. But creep is not necessarily responsible for the concrete to break or fall apart. The constant load is applied and the concrete experiences an instantaneous elastic strain which is the reason for creep to appearing on concrete.

If creeps appear in beams or loaded columns they can load to buckling.

In dams, if creep occurs then it can lead to cracking of the interior inside the dams. Therefore, measures should be taken to fix a creep in a dam if there are any.
Due to creep loss of prestressing can occur in a building or structure.
