Almost all interior and exterior painting projects use water-based paint. This kind of paint dries quickly, is simple to clean up, and doesn't smell as strong as certain oil-based paints. I needed to learn about the water based paint types, before going to the store to buy it for my upcoming project.

What are the different types of water based paint?

One of my friends, Kajol, informed me that there are three different types of water based paint. However, when I visited the shop I got to know that there are 2 type of water based interior paint, latex and acrylic, and each has a distinct use. To paint homes, buildings, and spaces, latex and acrylic paint are primarily used.

  • Acrylic paint:

Any paint with the label "acrylic" often contains more acrylic polymers than latex paint. It usually costs more, since acrylic paint has superior adhesions, durability, and resilience. Some manufacturers refer to acrylic paint that is particularly durable as "enamel" in the paint description.

  • Latex paint:

Latex paint has a smaller proportion of acrylic polymers in order to save costs. Professionals like this paint because it covers more surface area than acrylic paint, costs less money, and is more environmentally friendly.

I hope this answer clarifies the water based paint types.
