Textured paint has gained quite a lot of popularity in recent years. I remember how most of my friends’ homes got repainted during Diwali with a new kind of texture paint. And I remember how much I bugged my parents for the same until one day we actually got texture paint done at our home too. And it was then that I got to know about the

types of wall texture paint.

Different Types of Wall Paint Texture

Here are some of the most common types of textured paint:

  1. Knockdown: Knockdown texture is one of the most popular types of textured paint. It is created by applying a thick layer of paint to the wall and then using a trowel or other tool to knock down the peaks, creating a rough, uneven surface.

  2. Popcorn: Popcorn texture is another popular type of textured paint. It is created by adding small beads of polystyrene to the paint. When the paint dries, the beads expand, creating a bumpy, popcorn-like surface.

  3. Orange peel: Orange peel texture is a type of textured paint that creates a slightly rough, dimpled surface. It is created by adding a special additive to the paint.

  4. Sgraffito: Sgraffito is a type of textured paint that is used to create decorative designs. It is created by applying layers of different coloured paint to the wall and then scratching through the top layers to reveal the colours underneath.

  5. Sand swirl: Sand swirl texture is a type of textured paint that creates a swirling, sandy effect. It is created by adding sand to the paint and then applying it to the wall with a brush or roller.

  6. Slap brush: Slap brush texture is a type of textured paint that creates a thick, textured surface. It is created by applying the paint to the wall with a slap brush, which is a type of brush with stiff bristles.

  7. Sponge: Sponge texture is a type of textured paint that creates a bumpy, sponge-like surface. It is created by applying the paint to the wall with a sponge.

These are just a few of the many

types of wall texture paint

available.

A friend of mine has a little art studio. She is a passionate painter, so when I decided to do some DIY texture paint in my room, I thought of getting some ideas from her. I asked her about the

types of textured paint. I will tell you what she told me.

Types of wall paint texture

Textured paint is a popular choice for adding depth, visual interest, and tactile appeal to walls and other surfaces. There are

different types of texture painting

available, each offering a unique look and texture. Here are some common types:

  • Sand Texture Paint:

This type of textured paint contains fine grains of sand, giving the surface a rough, gritty feel. It is commonly used to create a rustic or textured effect and is suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

  • Popcorn Texture Paint:

Popcorn texture paint, also known as acoustic or stucco texture, features small, raised bumps that resemble popcorn. It is often used on ceilings to add a textured look and help with sound absorption.

  • Knockdown Texture Paint:

Knockdown texture creates a visually appealing pattern with a slightly raised, flattened surface. It is achieved by applying a spray-on texture and then lightly "knocking down" the peaks with a trowel or other tool, resulting in a textured finish with a subtle texture.

  • Orange Peel Texture Paint:

This type of textured paint creates a finish similar to the skin of an orange. It consists of small, raised bumps that mimic the texture of an orange peel. It is often used on walls and ceilings to hide imperfections and provide a unique visual effect.

  • Slap Brush Texture Paint:

Slap brush texture is achieved by using a brush with stiff bristles to create a pattern of random peaks and valleys on the surface. This technique creates an irregular, textured finish and is often used to add character to walls and ceilings.

  • Venetian Plaster Texture Paint:

Venetian plaster is a decorative technique that involves applying multiple layers of plaster with a trowel to create a smooth, polished surface with a marble-like appearance. It can be further enhanced with wax or glaze to add depth and richness.

These are just a few examples of the many

types of textured paint

available. I hope this helps you out.
