When you plan to stay in a PG, you need to carry important personal items. These things will help you live comfortably and avoid problems later. Here are some things to take in PG:

  1. First, take all the clothes you need. Pack daily wear, office wear, nightwear, and innerwear. Carry clothes according to the weather. If it is cold, take sweaters and jackets. If it is hot, pack light cotton clothes.

  2. Next, take your personal accessories. Carry your watch, shoes, slippers, belt, wallet, and bag. Do not forget important electronic items.

  3. Take your mobile charger, laptop, laptop charger, headphones, and power bank. These items are very important for daily use.

  4. You should also carry basic bedding items. Some PGs provide a bed and pillow, but some do not. To stay safe, buy or carry your own blanket, bedsheet, and pillow. This will make you feel more comfortable and clean.

  5. For the bathroom, carry your own bucket and mug if possible. PGs provide them, but they may not be in good condition. Also pack your towel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, and other personal care items.

  6. Take basic utensils if your PG allows cooking. You can carry a plate, glass, spoon, and small knife.

  7. If allowed, you may also take small electronic items like a kettle, juicer, or egg boiler. These items depend on your needs.

These are the main things you should take when moving to a PG. Proper planning will help you live easily and peacefully. I hope you know now what are the things to take in PG.

I have been staying in a PG in Chennai with one of my friends for the past year. Based on my experience, I want to share things to carry while shifting to PG. Usually, the PG owner provides a cot, one cupboard, and a fan. Apart from these, you have to buy all other personal items like a toothbrush, soap, a bucket, a mug, etc. I have listed everything below for your reference.

What are the Essential Items to Carry While Shifting to PG?

  1. Bathroom Bucket and Mug: First, check if the bucket in the bathroom is clean. If it looks dirty or has stains, it’s better to buy your own bucket and mug. Using unclean ones can cause skin problems like rashes or fungal infections.

  2. Morning Routine Items: You need to buy basic items like a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and face wash to start your morning routine.

  3. Iron: If you wear ironed clothes daily, you must buy your own iron. Most PGs do not provide this.

  4. Kettle: Many PGs do not provide hot water. You can buy an electric kettle to heat water. It can also be used to boil eggs, or make maggi.

  5. Hanger: In some PGs, there is no space to dry clothes in the sunlight. I use a hanger to dry clothes on the terrace. It saves space and works well.

These are the basic things you need to carry while shifting to a PG.

Due to space constraints, I had to seriously think of a list of things to carry while shifting to PG. I decided to bring necessities with me and leave unnecessary clutter at home.
