According to the Notary Act, an instrument is any document that creates, transfers, limits, extends, suspends, extinguishes, or records a right or responsibility. If you are planning to notarize a document in Mumbai, you must first know the notary charges in Mumbai. I have added the same below for you.

What is the Notary Price in Mumbai?

Notary charges in Mumbai, Rule 10 of the Notaries Rules, 1956 governs this charge. Here are the fees:

Notarial Act Fees:

  • Noting an instrument:

    • Up to Rs10,000: Rs35

    • Rs10,001 to Rs25,000: Rs75

    • Rs25,001 to Rs50,000: Rs110

    • Above Rs50,000: Rs150

  • Protesting an instrument:

    • Up to Rs10,000: Rs35

    • Rs10,001 to Rs25,000: Rs75

    • Rs25,001 to Rs1,00,000: Rs110

    • Above Rs1,00,000: Rs150

  • Recording a declaration of payment for honour: Rs75

  • Duplicate protests: Half the charge of the original

  • Verifying, authenticating, certifying, or attesting the execution of any instrument: Rs15

  • Presenting any promissory note, hundi, or bill of exchange for acceptance or payment or demanding better security: Rs35

  • Administering oath to or taking an affidavit from any person: Rs15

  • Preparing any instrument intended to take effect in any country or place outside India: Rs150

  • Attesting or authenticating any instrument to take effect in any country or place outside India: Rs150

  • Translating and verifying the translation of any document from one language to another: Rs75

  • Noting and drawing up ship's protest, boat protest, or protest relating to demurrage and other commercial matters: Rs150

  • Certifying copies of documents as true per page copies of the original: Rs5 per page (minimum Rs10)

  • Any other notarial act: As fixed by the appropriate Government
