Hi Vijender. The landlord checklist for renting a house includes several things. Being a landlord for a couple of properties, I know what it takes to actually rent out your property. Start by getting everything in your house repaired and cleaned. Once your home is in good condition and ready to be rented, here are the things you need to keep in your checklist:

  1. Evaluating the rent and setting a suitable one for the property

  2. Setting the tentative security deposit for the property.

  3. Adding a property listing

  4. Gather all the necessary property documents.

  5. Screening tenants

  6. Collect the tenant’s documents for verification

  7. Tenant’s police verification and detailed background check.

  8. Draft a rent agreement and set the terms for all roles and responsibilities.

  9. Register the agreement.

Hello. I have recently rented out my 2 BHK in Mumbai and can share the rental property checklist for landlords. As a new landlord, I also followed a checklist to ensure there are no misses and that everything goes on smoothly. The first item in the checklist is preparing the property. This is an extensive process. I will share all the items below.

Checklist for Renting Out a House

Here is the checklist:

  1. Preparing the Property: You first need to prepare the property to rent it out. Make sure that the place is well-maintained in terms of cleanliness and the functional things in the house.

  2. Tenant Search: Once your place is set up, you need to start looking for a tenant. Go online and post a good ad for your property with appealing pictures. Filter out tenants and finalise based on financial stability, record, etc.

  3. Rent Agreement: Get the rent agreement drafted and go through all the other legalities.

  4. Property Management: Once you finally rent out the property, you need to look at rent collection, open communication, etc.

This is the landlord checklist for renting a house. I hope you will find this checklist helpful.
