A 1% rent surcharge fee, up to INR 1500 per transaction, shall be applied to the transaction amount for each rent payment indicated by Merchant Category Code 6513. As announced by the Indian government, GST will be applied.
Let’s understand this with an example. A surcharge fee of 1% of the transaction amount, or INR 200 plus taxes, will be applied if you use your Axis Bank credit card to pay INR 20,000 on a third-party rent payment platform.
If you use your Axis Bank credit card to pay INR 200,000 on a third-party rent payment app, the rent surcharge fee will be limited to INR 1,500 plus taxes.
