I recently created my google pay account and linked my bank account to it. I will help you out by telling you the exact process of linking your bank account to your google pay account.
You must link an Indian bank account to Google Pay when you first set it up in order to send and receive money.

Ensure that your outgoing SMS services are activated.
Make sure the bank account you wish to add has a debit card.
Use the phone number that is associated with your bank account, and make sure it is the same.
How to add a bank account on Google Pay?
Open the Google Pay app.
Tap your profile image in the top right. money in a bank.
Select Add bank account.
the bank of your choice from the list. Google Pay won't work if you can't find your bank.
Choose the desired account from the menu of accounts that appears.
You must add the information from your debit card in order to validate your account.
Follow the on-screen prompts to create a UPI PIN.
If you already have a UPI PIN, you will be prompted to input it.
If you can't remember your PIN, click the Forgot PIN button and then follow the prompts.
