If you are willing to put in a little effort and have some simple tools.

How to replace kitchen cabinet doors?

Replace kitchen cabinet doors to give your room an update and make everything appear new, whether it is because your cabinets have worn out or you have simply outgrown them and want a fresh new look;

  • Remove the Current Doors:

Simply open the existing doors and separate the hinge from the mounting plate fastened to the cabinet's inside to remove them.

  • Measuring your Doors:

Your new replacement cabinet doors should be exactly the same size as your previous ones if you plan to reuse your current hinges. You can achieve this by taking precise measurements of each door's width and height.

  • Add the Overlay

Your cabinet doors are a little bit bigger than the aperture of the cabinet. It is known as overlay. Standard cabinet doors have a 12-inch overlap on all sides. To account for the overlay on both sides when ordering a new door, increase the width and height of the cabinet opening by one inch.

  • Order the Doors and Hinges:

After you have the correct measurements, you’re ready to order the doors.

  • Install the Hinges:

Actually, each hinge borehole consists of three holes: the hinge cup, a large one, and two, smaller ones, which aid in precise alignment. Starting with the hinge, mount the mounting plate on it. After that, raise the locking flange at the hinge's base and place the hinge base into the hinge cup. Rotate the lock so its holes line up with the smaller boreholes. Your hinge is firmly installed once the locking flange has been pressed down.

  • Mount the doors:

A straight piece of wood should be fastened to the base of the cabinet opening for the simplest mounting of the doors. To account for the overlay, secure it in place with sturdy clamps 1/2 inch below the bottom border.

Mark through the screw slots to indicate where to drill the pilot holes while holding the door in place with the mounting plates pressed up against the cabinet's front frame. Reinstall the hinges to the mounting plate after removing the mounting plates from the doors and fastening them to the face frame with a screwdriver.

The process of replacing cabinet doors DIY takes less than 30 minutes to replace each cabinet door (plus the time for fabrication and delivery). However, if you are unclear about how any of the steps above work, you can hire a professional to assist you with the same.
