Recently, I discovered that a number of outlets in my house abruptly stopped functioning. My initial thought was that the circuit breaker may have tripped. However, I checked the breaker panel and found no tripped switches, so everything appeared to be okay. At that point, I realised there might be another issue. A tripped GFCI outlet, loose wiring, a defective breaker, or a broken splice are the most common causes if multiple outlets not working but breaker not tripped.

What to Check if Outlets Not Working Breaker Not Tripped?

  1. Check other outlets on the same circuit. Occasionally, a malfunctioning outlet can have an impact on other outlets in the same room.

  2. Look for a GFCI outlet that has been triggered. Power may be restored by pressing a reset button in your bathroom, kitchen, or outdoor space.

  3. Check for loose connections by switching off the electricity at the breaker and looking for loose outlets or wires.

  4. Look for any broken breakers. Even if a breaker hasn't tripped, it may still be defective and need to be replaced.

If these steps don’t solve the issue, then it is best to call an electrician.
