According to Hindu law, a husband is not prohibited from inheriting his deceased wife's property if he remarries or if his sons are alive. But, the distribution of the property between all eligible heirs is based on the laws laid down in the Hindu Succession Act.

Likewise, a husband does not inherit any share of his deceased wife's property under Islamic law. The wife's property goes to her children, parents, siblings, and other relatives as per the prescribed shares. A husband's remarriage or the presence of his living sons does not generally affect the inheritance rights of his deceased wife's property.
