No, an Agreement for Sale is not the same as a Sale Deed in India.

  1. An agreement for sale outlines the terms and conditions of the property sale, including the payment schedule, but it does not transfer ownership. Even if it's registered, it only serves as proof of the agreement to sell the property.

  2. However, a Sale Deed is a legally binding document that confirms the transfer of property ownership from the seller to the buyer. It must be registered under the Registration Act, 1908.

Therefore, an Agreement for Sale cannot be used as a Sale Deed Number.
