Yes, you can register the property in your name. But you will have to consult the relevant authority to know the process and charges. Mandatory registration documents must be submitted along with the required cost within 4 months after the date of execution. If the deadline has passed, you may still submit an application to the sub-registrar for a delay clearance within the following four months.

The registrar may agree to register the documents in exchange for payment of a fine that could be up to 10 times the original registration price. A maximum of Rs 30,000 is charged as the registration cost for real estate paperwork, which is equal to 1% of the property's value.
