Yes, joint owners can claim stamp duty and registration charges separately under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, with a maximum deduction of Rs. 1,50,000 each.
Since the total stamp duty is Rs. 3,28,000, both owners can claim Rs. 1,50,000 each, totaling Rs. 3,00,000. The remaining Rs. 28,000 cannot be claimed. Both must be co-owners and loan co-borrowers to avail the benefit.
