Hi,

As far as I know, The city/bank/branch code, also known as the sort field, is a nine-digit number that comes after a delimiter. The city is represented by the first three digits, the bank is represented by the next three, and the branch is represented by the final three digits. Every bank branch in the nation has a different nine-digit sort code.

You may have observed that the bank sort code and account number are both numeric. Add leading zeros if the account number is less than eight digits. The account number you use, for instance, is 00123456 if the bank account number is 123456. Six numbers will make up the Bank sort codes in this instance, which will be broken into three pairs like 12-34-56.

You should understand what bank sort code means if you frequently transact internationally or have an overseas account. I have primarily seen the sort code provided in Irish and English banks. SORT codes are also referred to as NSC, or National SORT Code, in Ireland. The IPSO oversees their regulation (Irish Payment Services Organization). SWIFT codes are what SORT codes are known as in India.

I hope this helps you find your sort code.
