You may vent your sink drain by adding a vent pipe and attaching it to the drain. I didn’t know how to vent a sink drain until I got it done by a professional plumber. A few weeks back, I found sewage gases backing up into the sink. So, I hired a plumber to fix it and watched the process he performed carefully. I have shared the detailed process he followed below.
How to Vent a Kitchen Sink?
The plumber said venting a sink drain is a crucial step, since it permits air to enter and exit the drain system and stops water from draining correctly. Here are the steps he followed to vent out my kitchen sink.
He started by determining where the main vent stack was. It was on the house's roof.
After that, he used a sanitary tee fitting to install a vent pipe that connected to the sink drain. He requested me to get a pipe that had a small upward slope.
Finally, he erected the vent pipe through the roof and installed a vent cap.
He requested that I periodically inspect the vent pipe to make sure it is free of obstacles and operating properly. This is how do you vent a kitchen sink.
