I read somewhere that one of the budget friendly ways to change the look of your kitchen is to upgrade its cabinets. I planned to do that and started looking up how to upgrade your kitchen cabinets. During my research, I learned that there are quite a few methods of upgrading your kitchen cabinets. Some of those are painting, distressing, whitewashing, changing handles, etc.
How to Update Kitchen Cabinets?
Among all the methods I have learned, only three stood out to me and those are as follows.
Painting the Cabinets
The easiest way to give your cabinets a makeover is by painting over them. You can paint the cabinets with a colour of your choice. Also, ensure that the cabinet colour compliments the colour of the kitchen.
Distressing the Cabinets
Distressing the cabinets is one of the easiest ways to give your cabinet a makeover. You can start by painting the cabinet with a light basecoat colour. Then, use a slightly darker shade over it after it has dried. Once the coat has dried, you can use sandpaper to distress the edges and surface of the door.
Whitewash
Whitewashing is another great option. To whitewash, you can paint the cabinet with a white basecoat. Apply a second coat of the same colour mixed with water. The paint-to-water ratio should be 3:1. Apple with a brush and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wipe off the excess paint and seal it with a clean topcoat.
