Here is the process he informed me of unlocking the Honeywell AC.
You must find the unit's control panel.
Check for a lock icon or a display showing locked at the moment. On the screen, directly beneath the temperature reading, there will be a little "Unlock" label next to the center button.
Finally, hold down the "Fan" and "Mode" buttons at the same time for three seconds until the lock icon deactivates.
