My brother asked for his bike to use for traveling from his rental home to the office. So, I planned to transport the bike in my car from Bangalore to Hyderabad. However, I was not sure how to transport bike inside car. So, I researched about it and found a solution: the only practical way to transport the bike in a car is by dismantling it part by part.
How to Transport Bike on Car?
Here are the steps I came across and followed to transport my brother’s bike on the car.
I hired a bike mechanic to dismantle the front wheel, headlight, back wheel, and some small parts of the bike.
As mentioned, I bought bubble wrap and used it to cover the headlight, front wheel, and back wheel.
I placed the headlight in a box, sealed it properly, and kept it inside the car.
Then, I put the front and back wheels inside the car’s dickey.
Finally, with the help of a friend, I lifted the main body of the bike onto the car roof carrier and tied it securely with a rope.

How to Carry a Bike On a Car?
Transporting a bike in a car is not that easy. This will only make sense if you have a bicycle and not a heavy bike and your car is a minimum for 6 seaters. This is the process I followed to transport my mountain bike in the SUV car:
Prepare the Bike: I removed all the bike accessories like lights, water bottles, and the front wheel and then lowered the seat post. removing the front wheel to make the bike more compact.
Protect the Bike: I precisely wrapped the bike frame and other delicate components with blankets to prevent scratches and damage. I covered the chains and gears as well to protect the car's interior
Prepare the SUV: Then I shifted my attention to the car and folded down the rear seats to maximise the space.
Load the Bike: Once these were done, I placed the bike in the SUV and adjusted its position securely. I will advise you to tie the bike to a seat for extra safety. This will ensure that the bike is stable and won’t shift while driving.
