Trying to move a fish tank can be a daunting task, I know this because I did that a few months back. Back then I was unaware of the process and had to call my cousin to learn about the whole process. Here are the steps that my cousin told me about.
How to Transfer Fish When Moving?
Before starting the process, my cousin told me to gather a few supplies such as
A fishnet
Large buckets
Siphon hose
Bubble wrap
Duct tape
Packing paper
Moving boxes, etc.
Move the Fish
He told me to stop feeding my fish 24-48 hours before moving to ensure that their waste has passed before the move. Then he asked me to fill the buckets with water from the tank and then add the fish, with 3-4 fish per bucket.
Clean and Drain the Tank
The next step he told me was to remove the accessories from the tank and clean it. Following that, he told me to drain all the water from the tank.
Packing
For this step he asked me to remove the lid and pack it separately using bubble wraps. Then he told me to place the tank in a box and place insulating foam to fill in the gaps. He also told me to stuff the tank with paper or foam, so that it doesn’t get scratched.
Moving the Tank
My cousin told me to move the tank on my own vehicle as it's a fragile item. He suggested me to take extra care for that.
