Hey there. I renovated my kitchen area and the cabinets needed a bit of touch-up. As it was a small task, I decided to do it on the weekend all by myself. I can thus help you understand how to touch up painted cabinets. You will have to prep the area first, followed by sanding. For the touch-up, you can use a touch-up pen or a brush to apply the topcoat. Let me expand this below.
How to Touch Up Kitchen Cabinets?
Here is how you can touch up your kitchen cabinets:
First comes preparing the area. Remove all the stuff from the kitchen platform and cabinets. Empty the area.
Clean the region to remove dust and dirt from the area using a microfibre and a damp cloth.
Next, you need to sand the areas where the paint is worn and chipped. Lightly scuff-sand the surface using a fine-grit sandpaper to roughen the region.
Take your brush or touch-up pen and apply paint over the desired region. You need to dab and not use strokes.
In the chipped areas, apply the paint only over the chipped places to avoid unevenness and a shabby look.
In worn areas, you can blend the paint by smearing, i.e. spreading the paint around.
Apply 2-3 coats of paint as per the look and coverage you need. Give time between each coat to dry before applying the next one.
You can apply a clear coat over the touch-up paint to safeguard it.
This is all. I hope it helps.
