I recently decided to paint a stencil border along the walls of my back room to decorate it. My home already has crown molding in the majority of the rooms, so a stencil border looked like the ideal solution to add elegance without using heavy trim. So, how to stencil a wall border? This can be done through meticulous preparation and accurate measurements for a finish that looks professional.
How to Stencil a Border on a Wall?
Measure each wall and draw it to keep track of your calculations.
After measuring each wall, mark the centre close to the ceiling and split the length in half.
If there are oddly numbered images, centre the pattern using the registration lines on the stencil to determine image spacing.
Wipe the wall, cut off any extra stencil plastic, then apply the stencil glue.
Paint should be lightly tapped into a stencil brush, excess removed, and then pounced over.
Continue aligning registration markings for the subsequent image until the wall is complete.
Remove pencil lines for a neat, tidy border after it has dried.
From my experience, I can say that a perfect stencil border requires attention to detail, precise measurement, and alignment.
