How to Soundproof Your Balcony?
It’s a very common problem people face in urban, high-traffic areas, and having suffered through this, I have learned to come up with unique but possible solutions. Here’s how you can soundproof your balcony.
A perimeter wall can be a great way to block the traffic noise. But you should know that different types of walls have different noise-reduction abilities, so choose wisely.
If constructing a wall sounds like too much work, consider getting a false ceiling done, especially those with soundproofing materials.
You can also invest in soundproof fences. They will surely minimise noise pollution but you must use the correct fence type to get the best sound insulation.
If you want some permanent solutions, then installing double pane windows or window inserts can be a feasible solution. This will definitely help absorb the noise and keep the room warm and comfortable.
That’s all I can remember as of now. If anybody has any more ideas, do let me know.

A balcony is where we relax and turn ourselves off from the daily hustle and bustle. Nothing is more relaxing than getting a little fresh air. But is there any way you can get rid of the disturbing cacophony in a crowded city? The cars are always honking or the construction work is going outside the streets! So, to get rid of the noise, I decided to research on how to soundproof balcony. And I found some easy, cheap balcony soundproofing ideas. I will share three easy tips with you:
Consult NoBroker’s interior designers to help you make your balcony soundproof. How to soundproof your balcony?
- Install outside noise barriers
There are many types of barriers you can install to decrease the noise. Thick fencing or privacy screens can help to reduce the sounds coming from your balcony. Some of the ideas related to noise barriers include:
Bamboo or reed fencing
Canvas privacy fencing
Metal privacy screens with real or fake greenery.
Height can make a significant impact. So, do cover your railings to get rid of sounds from the balcony.
- Add outdoor noise reduction curtains
There are different types of curtains available in the market such as outdoor, weatherproof, and soundproof curtains. Curtains are effective and they will not only maintain the privacy of the house but also help you get rid of the extra sound coming inside your balcony. Soundproof curtains are opaque and prevent light from coming inside the house.
- Bring in sounds you like
Another cheap but effective way is to install speakers and play the sounds that can relax you. Instead of installing sound speakers, I installed a fountain in my balcony, the sound of the water is calming and it is aesthetically pleasing. So, I love it.
This was all about balcony soundproofing ideas. I hope you like it.
