Sand Down: Use 180-220 fine grit sandpaper to sand the plywood. This will ensure the bumps and lumps are removed, creating a smooth surface. For expert sanding, I recommend you call a professional. After sanding, use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust particles. Then, wipe down with a clean and dry cloth. You might need to sand in between primer and paint coats to preserve smoothness.
Polyurethane: Use polyurethane for a shiny and smooth finish. It is applied after you’re done painting. Apply a coat and let it dry before you use the plywood.
