I have an open balcony and there I have some wooden furniture. A few weeks back, I noticed that their conditions were going bad. So, to protect them, I started looking for ways to waterproof them. While researching for that, I learned that sealants can be used to protect them. So I learned how to seal painted wood for outdoor use. I’ll be happy to share the steps here with you..

How to Paint and Seal Outdoor Wood Furniture?

The first to seal your wood furniture is to prepare the surface by cleaning it. For that, you can use to tack cloth and wipe it thoroughly. Next, prepare the sealant solution by stirring it thoroughly with a long, clean stick gently. Doing it too hard might introduce air bubbles to it. Below are the rest of the steps.

  • Take a clean and dry brush and dip it in the sealant mixture.

  • Apply the sealant in a thin, even coat slowly and allow it to dry properly before polishing it.

  • After the surface has dried, sand it lightly and remove the dust with a cloth.

  • Apply a second coat of sealant and let it dry to achieve a nice finish.

While applying the sealant layer, ensure there are no air bubbles or drips. In case of any, smooth them out using the edge of the brush. And that’s how to paint and seal outdoor wood furniture. Hope this helps.
