Hi there. I saw you asking how to replace an electrical outlet box and can tell you about it. The process isn’t a complex one, but since it involves handling electrical stuff, you will have to be extra cautious while working on replacing the outlet. I recently did this at my house and am sharing the detailed steps you will need.

How to Replace Electrical Outlet?

Here are the steps to replace an electrical outlet:

  1. Before you start, ensure to turn off the power to the outlet you are replacing.

  2. Look for the electrical panel in your house and switch off the circuit breaker corresponding to the outlet. Use a voltage tester to double-check that the power is off.

  3. Now, you will remove the old outlet. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the outlet cover.

  4. Unscrew the screws securing the outlet to the electrical box.

  5. Pull out the outlet from the box. Disconnect the wires by loosening the terminal screws or by detaching them from the push-in connectors.

  6. You will now install the new outlet. For this, connect the wires to the new outlet.

  7. Make sure the wires are attached to the right terminals: Black wire to the brass terminal, white to the silver terminal and green to the green terminal.

  8. You can also check the instructions and the diagram which came with the new outlet.

  9. Push the wires back carefully into the electrical box and secure the outlet using screws.

  10. Screw the outlet cover back in place.

  11. Switch on the power at the circuit breaker and test the new outlet to make sure it is working properly.

This is all you need to do. I hope this helps.
