How do You Replace a Flush Valve in a Toilet?
Toilet flush valve replacement is tedious. You cannot do it yourself unless you are an expert. I had no idea on how to replace a flush valve in a toilet so I sat back and observed the entire work of NB’s plumber. Here is what needs to be done:
Locate the shut-off valve near the base of the toilet and turn it clockwise to stop the water flow.
Next, empty the tank by flushing and holding down the handle to remove most of the water.
Then lift the lid and set it aside in a safe place.
Unscrew the nut connecting the water supply line to the fill valve.
Disconnect the flapper chain, unscrew the mounting nut, and lift out the old flush valve.
Place the new flush valve into the tank and secure it with the mounting nut.
Attach the flapper chain to the flush lever and screw the nut back onto the fill valve to reconnect the water supply.
Open the shut-off valve to allow water to fill the tank.
Make sure there are no leaks around the flush valve, adjust the components, and put the tank lid back in place.
Flush the toilet to ensure the new flush valve is functioning properly.
This is the entire process to change a toilet flush valve.
