The wall-mounted fan in my study was not working, and I had to get it fixed asap as it gets hot in there. I looked online to find an electrician near my location and, after that, got in touch with one. I told him about the issue I was facing, and he said that he would visit and check it out. If you are trying to learn how to fix wall fan, then read the steps below.

How to Fix Wall Fan Not Rotating?

He came and inspected the fan and informed me that there were some issues with the thermal fuse. He said adjusting it a bit would make the fan work. Here’s what he did.

  1. First, he disconnected the power to the fan and removed the control unit cover.

  2. Next, he traced the wiring and used a spare wire to connect points A to B to shunt the fuse.

  3. After that, he connected the fan to the power and turned it on to check if it was working or not. Surprisingly, the fan started moving.

  4. Now, he disconnected the power and moved point C to B.

Following this, he put the fan back together and connected it to the power source, and it was working again. That was how the electrician fixed my wall-mounted fan.

Hello Samhita. I would like to gie you a hand with how to fix wall fan. Recently, the wall mounted fan in our house temple stopped working. It wasn’t turning on and that caused us a lot of trouble staying inside the temple. So, I tried to look inside the fan and see what was wrong. The issue was with the capacitor which needed replacement. Let me show you how I did it.

Steps to Replace Capactor in a Wall Mounted Fan

Here are the steps:

  1. Start by disconnecting the power supply to the fan.

  2. De-solder or cut the wires at the terminals of the capacitor and connect them to a new capacitor of the same type.

  3. Turn on the power to the fan. It should work now.

  4. However, if te motor still refuses to rotate then it can be possible that the motor windings are the issue. That is a sign to replace the fan entirely.

This is all I know about how to fix wall fan. I recommend calling an expert such as an electrician for complex repairs. I hope it helps.

How to repair wall mounted fan?
  • Disassembling the Fan:

Remove the blade guard's hook or unscrew it, then unplug the fan. To remove the fan's blades or washer, turn them in an anticlockwise direction. Turn your fan over, then look at the rear for the screws.

  • Lubricating the Bearings:

Turn the pin on the front of the fan with your hand to see if it rotates.

Unscrew any washers or bolts blocking the base of the pin. Apply lubricating oil to the front and back of the pin. Any type of lubricating oil will work. You can buy lubricating oil at any auto parts shop or building supply store. Use enough oil to completely coat the pin. You don’t want to get any oil on the motor itself though. If you see it dripping off of the pin, tap it with the cloth to soak up the excess oil.

  • Cleaning the Motor and Vent:

Look for dirt or dust on the back of your motor casing and clean it off. Your fan has probably not been operating properly if this vent is fully covered in dust or debris.

The vent can be thoroughly cleaned by soaking it in water and soap and letting it air dry.

  • Reassemble your fan by putting the blades, bolts, and case back together:

Work in the reverse order of the fan's disassembly. Before putting the blade guard back over the pin, use a wrench to tighten the bolts and replace any washers. re-start your fan. Your motor is dying if the blades are spinning less quickly than the pin did when you checked it. Too little electricity is being used for it to fully turn the fan. Therefore, at this moment, you can also employ a professional to assist you with the same.

I’d like to conclude here about the process of wall fan repairing. I hope this helps:)
