How can terrazzo flooring be removed?

A series of steps are followed to remove the terrazzo flooring and here they are-

Prepare the area:

Before starting, you will need to make sure that the area is properly prepared. Remove any furniture and other items that may be in the way. Cover any remaining objects with plastic sheeting to protect them from dust and debris.

  Remove the sealer:

Using a chemical stripper, remove the sealer from the terrazzo floor. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper application and safety.

  Grind the floor:

Using a diamond-head grinder, grind away the top layer of the terrazzo floor. Start with a coarse grit and work your way up to a finer grit.

  Vacuum the floor:

Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust and debris from the floor. This is an important step. You have to make sure the floor is absolutely clean and dirt free.

  Remove the grout:

Use a grout saw to remove the grout from between the tiles.

  Remove the tiles:

Use a hammer and chisel to carefully remove the tiles from the floor. Remember to take all the necessary precautions before you start removing the tiles.

  Clean the floor:

Use a degreaser to clean the floor. This will remove any dirt, dust, and debris that may have been left behind.

  Apply a sealant:

Once the floor is clean, apply a sealant to protect it. This will ensure that the floor lasts a long time.

  Polish the floor:

Use a polishing machine to bring out the shine of the terrazzo floor.

  Finishing:

Finally, you can apply a wax or glaze to the floor to give it a glossy finish. By following these steps, you can successfully remove a terrazzo floor.

Do remember that it is a tough job, and it is better to seek an expert’s help if you have not done anything like this before.

So this is the process for removing terrazzo flooring.
