Now, join a garden hose to the pressure relief valve at the bottom of the tank and put the hose’s other end in a bucket, floor drain or sump pump.
Open the pressure relief valve and let the water drain.
Next, remove the hose and close the pressure relief valve once the water heater is drained fully.
Check for any white flakes in the water. The presence of white flakes indicated excess calcium buildup.
This will remove some of the calcium. To remove the rest, use a descaling solution like vinegar. Pour the descaling solution into the water heater and let it sit for a few hours. After this, flush your tank again before switching on the water heater for reuse.
