Last Sunday, I got my cabinets painted because they looked old. During the painting process, I noticed brush strokes on the cabinet surfaces. I didn’t know how to remove them, so I researched how to remove brush strokes from painted cabinets. I found an easy steps, from choosing the right brush to finishing the job. I am sharing those steps for you below.
How can You Paint Cabinets Without Leaving Brush Marks?
During research, I came across the following steps to paint my cabinets without getting brush marks.
Pick a good-quality synthetic brush that says “smooth finish” on the label.
Before painting, clean, sand, and prime the cabinets to get a smooth surface.
You can use cabinet-specific paint and add a bit of paint conditioner to help it level out better.
To be safe, practice your brush strokes on some scrap wood first. Ensure to paint in the direction of the wood grain.
If the paint is thick, thin it out with some water.
Don’t overload the brush, just dip it in and tap off the extra.
Work quickly and overlap the strokes while the paint is still wet to avoid streaks.
After each coat, you must lightly sand the surface with sandpaper.
Most importantly, let each coat dry fully before adding the next one.
These are the steps you can follow to paint the cabinet without brush marks. But, I would suggest hiring a professional painter, which I am doing.
