I recently got my house painted. Before painting, I saw that the painters prepared the concrete surface. As per the painters, this preparation was important for proper adherence to paint. So if you want to know how to prepare concrete for painting, I can share a few steps that I witnessed during my painting project. I think that I can say that for this process you will need the following equipment like a pressure washer, hydrochloric acid, strong rubber gloves and safety goggles, masking tape, plastic bucket and watering can, and scrubbing brush.

How to Prepare Concrete Floor for Painting?

I have shared the steps that the painter followed for my painting project,

1. First, clean the floor of any dust, grime, oil stains, grease, or other impurities. These can be cleaned with a power washer and treated with a strong concrete degreaser.

2. Finding out if the concrete surface is smooth or rough is the next step in preparing concrete for painting. The concrete floor must be etched with acid if it doesn\'t feel as rough as 180-grit sandpaper or coarser. The concrete paint will stick to the surface thanks to this procedure. 

3. Wearing safety gear and letting the mixture sit on the floor for fifteen minutes while using a stiff broom are crucial during this process. You will observe bubbles forming during this procedure.

4. Wash with clean water and a high-pressure cleaner after 15 minutes. After everything has dried completely, cover the parts of the wall that you wish to keep safe.

5. Pour the concrete paint onto a roller tray after thoroughly stirring it. Before painting the remainder of the concrete floor with a roller on an extension pole, use a paintbrush to trim in the edges.
