• Use a wire brush to remove the old paint from the grill and a damp cloth to wipe it.

• Put the newspapers to shield the windows and walls from spills. 

• If possible, apply the primer to the window grill. Let it dry for two hours. 

• Apply Rust-Oleum 248903 Automotive High Heat Spray Paint.

• Give it at least fifteen minutes to dry and apply another coat. 

• Finally, leave it to dry completely for a day.

The process isn’t too complicated and you can do it on your own. As our grill was rusting, we applied turpentine before beginning the process. I am describing the complete steps below.

How to Paint Grill Window?

1. Start by cleaning the window by wiping it with a soft and clean cloth. 

2. If your grill is rusty, wipe with a cloth soaked in turpentine. 

3. Sand the grill with emery paper 180 if needed. 

4. Use a corrosion-resistant metal primer and apply a single coat. Let it dry for 6-8 hours. It would be best to check the manufacturer’s guidelines for the drying time.

5. Sand the surface once again. If you feel that the surface still isn’t smooth, take a knifing paste filler to fill small dents. 

6. Don’t paint directly over the surface where putty has been applied. First, apply the primer.

7. Paint with a gloss enamel or satin enamel paint. A couple of coats should do. Give drying time to the first coat before applying the next.

8. Let the second coat dry completely, too. Give ample time before coming in contact with the window grill.
