Here is how to paint rubber wood furniture:
Wipe down with mild soap and water to remove grease and dust. Let it dry completely overnight.
Grab a 220-grit sandpaper and lightly sand all surfaces. This will help the paint to stick better. Wipe off dust with a tack cloth.
Apply wood primer with a brush or roller. Do 1-2 thin coats and wait 4 hours between coats and sand lightly again.
Then, use an acrylic enamel or PU paint. Apply 2-3 thin coats with a quality brush. Sand lightly between coats for smoothness.
Finish with 2 coats of clear varnish or PU polish. This will help protect the furniture from scratches and moisture.
Let everything dry for 48 hours before you use the furniture.

Again, let it dry properly before applying the second coat of paint.
