How to Half Paint a Wall?

I like how Vaarun has mentioned so many unique half wall paint ideas. I’d love to try them sometime. For now, let me just quickly share how to paint bottom half of wall.

1. First up, choose your color but one suggestion: always paint the bottom with a darker shade. It gives a better appearance. 

2. Next, you must find the height at which the horizontal line should run between the two colors. There is no exact measurement here since it depends on the room height. Then, simply draw the line using a pencil.

3. Now, start painting. If you’re painting both the sections, always start from the upper half. Since my walls were freshly painted when we moved in, I just had to paint the bottom half. You can use a paint roller and a brush for the edges.

How to Do a Half Painted Wall?

Here is the method:

1. Begin by painting the lighter shade first on the half you’ve chosen. Let the half of the wall that has been painted to dry. 

2. After the section has completely dried, mask the other half of the wall.

3. See the portion where you want the colour to start. You can choose anywhere as there is no rule. I had chosen a little over half and a bit under two-thirds high. 

4. Make markings on the wall with a pencil and tape measure to keep the horizontal line straight. You can use a spirit level to see that you measure up in straight lines. 

5. Run the tape between the pencil marks, checking with the level as you go ahead.

6. After masking, start painting along the outlines with a paintbrush. 

7. Once the edges are painted, switch to a roller for the rest of the section.

8. After the second half of the wall has dried, begin with the second paint coat. 

9. Remove the masking tape while the paint is damp.
