Hello. We bought a recycled closet last month as I truly loved the material and design. We weren’t so happy with the paint though. So, we decided to change it and paint a fresh colour. So, I’ll be able to tell you how to paint closet shelves. Painting the closet shelves can be made easier with spray paint. We used the same and I’ll tell you everything about the process below.
How to Paint a Closet with Shelves?
Here is the process to paint closet shelves:
Wear a protective facemask and gloves. Also wear disposable shower caps to protect yourself.
Cover the surrounding floor with drop cloths and also the floor of the closet with the same. To prevent paint splatter, apply painter’s tape in areas where you don’t wish to paint. You must also cover the closet walls.
Wipe down the surface of the shelves with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. Then, wipe again with a clean and dry cloth.
Once the shelves have dried, begin painting at the top and work your way down. Paint with even strokes and go back and forth with them.
Be careful with the output of the paint so that it doesn’t drip out. Also, maintain a decent distance from the walls and shelves while you paint to avoid dripping.
Paint a couple of thin coats instead of one thick coat to get an even and durable finish. Once the first coat is done, take a foam brush and wipe any noticeable drips before they dry.
If your shelves are new and haven’t been painted before, I recommend sanding them lightly after the first coat of paint.
As far as how to paint a closet with wire shelving is concerned, I am not that aware of the method. So it’d be great if someone could share their knowledge about the same.
