A few days ago, I watched a painter work on the textured ceiling in my new home. The way he paint a textured ceiling was really perfect. He taped along the bottom edge of the walls, then used a brush to paint around the corners, and he finished the remaining steps neatly and evenly. To help you understand better, I have added the steps below.
How Can You Paint a Textured Ceiling?
First, the painter taped along the bottom edge of the walls to create a clean cut-off line and prevent paint from getting on the walls.
Once all the tape was in place, he used a brush to paint around the edges of the ceiling, especially near the corners where the roller couldn’t reach.
Next, he cleaned the roller to remove any loose fibres that might stick to the textured surface.
After that, he loaded the roller with a good amount of paint and started applying it to the ceiling.
Instead of rolling in straight lines, he worked in X and W motions, making sure the paint covered all the highs and lows of the texture.
Once the ceiling was completely painted, they carefully pulled down the painter’s tape while the paint was still a bit wet.
The finish looked smooth, clean, and even across the whole ceiling.
This textured paint offered my home a modern, unique look. Hope this helps you.

I recently moved to a rented apartment in Bangalore. My NRI landlord asked me to get his house painted before I move in. My only concern was painting the popcorn ceiling of the house. So, I hired a professional for the job, and learned how to paint a textured ceiling from him. As I witnessed the entire process, I’ll be happy to share the steps here with you.
How to Paint Ceiling Texture?
To protect the furniture and floor from paint splatters, he first covered them with plastic sheets.
To avoid affecting the paint finish, the painter used a delicate brush to gently wipe the ceiling.
Using a thick-nap roller, he evenly covered the uneven surface with a stain-blocking primer.
After this, he used a paint sprayer to apply an even coat of paint without affecting the popcorn texture after the priming had dried.
Finally, once the paint had dried, he used a brush to make touch-ups on any places that required more care.
Though these steps sound easy but trust me it requires a lot of experience, and patience. So it is best that you hire painters to complete this type of job.
