Hey there! When I moved my paintings to my new place, I was super worried about how to pack paintings for moving and keeping them safe during the move. I wanted to make sure nothing got damaged, so I took the time to properly pack everything. Here's how I did it:
How to Pack Artwork for Moving
I found a solid surface to work on, like a clean table, and laid down a sheet of glassine paper. This was essential to protect the front of my paintings from dust and moisture. I then placed the painting face down on the glassine and gently wrapped it around the edges, securing it with artist tape.
I covered the whole painting with bubble wrap, and wrapped it multiple times for extra protection. This made sure it wouldn't move around during the journey.
For my framed artwork, I added an extra step by covering the glass with artist tape in a crisscross pattern and also used cardboard corner protectors.
Finally, I carefully placed everything into properly sized packing boxes, filled any gaps with more bubble wrap, and taped the boxes shut securely.
By taking these steps, I was able to move my paintings without any issues. If you're planning a move, I highly recommend following these steps to keep your paintings safe! I hope this helps you understand how you pack paintings for moving.
